For the filling:
- 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Make the crust by combining flour and salt in a large bowl. Add butter and use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until the mixture is crumbly.
- Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Knead the dough on a floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Make the filling by mixing sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl. Add apples and stir until coated.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into 4-5 inch circles.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Dot with butter.
