- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preparing the beef mixture:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula.
4. Add tomato paste, beef broth, thyme, rosemary, salt and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
5. Add chopped green beans to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 5-10 minutes, until the green beans are tender.
Preparing the mashed potato topping:
1. Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt and black pepper to the pot and mash the potatoes until smooth.
Assembling the Shepherd's Pie:
1. Pour the beef mixture into a 9-inch (23cm) baking dish.
2. Spoon the mashed potato mixture over the beef mixture and spread it evenly with a spatula.
3. Bake the Shepherd's Pie for 30-35 minutes, until the mashed potato topping is golden brown and the beef mixture is heated through.

- You can use frozen green beans instead of fresh ones if you prefer.
- If you don't have beef broth, you can substitute it with chicken or vegetable broth.
- You can use a piping bag to pipe the mashed potato topping onto the beef mixture for a more decorative finish.
