Chicken Pot Pie Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cubed chicken breasts and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and celery. Cook until tender, about 5 minutes.

4. Add the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, and dried basil to the skillet. Stir until well combined.

5. Gradually add the chicken broth, heavy cream, milk, and cream of chicken soup to the skillet, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened.

6. Add the frozen peas and carrots and the cooked chicken to the skillet. Stir until well combined.

7. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar for the crust.

8. Add the cubed butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

9. Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a ball.

10. Divide the dough in half and roll out one half on a floured surface. Place the rolled-out dough on the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.

11. Pour the chicken mixture into the pie dish.

12. Roll out the other half of the dough and place it on top of the chicken mixture.

13. Cut slits in the top of the dough to allow steam to escape.

14. Brush the egg wash over the top of the dough.
